Self-Introduction

Taiwanese Traditional Breakfast

In Taiwan, breakfast usually comes in the form of street food. Vendors will set up shop on the curbside in the morning hours and make these dishes on the spot for commuters on their way to work via foot or mopeds. Nowadays in Taiwan, most of shops were sells the American’s. Such as hamburger, toast.....So, I’d like to show you what Taiwanese breakfast is. Taiwanese breakfasts are more traditional and also there are many kinds of breakfast you can choose. 

Clay oven roll 



230~250 calories for a clay oven roll 

Fried bread stick

Chinese fried bread stick

252 calories for a fried break stick

And the interesting thing is that Taiwanese will mix them and eat. It would become like this ↓



Around 500 calories for a clay oven roll with fried break stick.

Rice porridge



250 calories for a bowl of rice porridge.

Fried-Dumpling (with pork in it.)



70 calories for one fried-dumpling.

Rice Ball (Usually with egg, pork sung and dried radish in it.)



600 calories for a rice ball.

Chinese omelet (it can have many different taste, you can choose such as cheese, ham, pork sung.....etc.)

520 calories for a Chinese omelet.

Bean milk 



Around 170 calories for a bowl of bean milk.

Peanut milk


Around 180 calories for a bowl of peanut milk.

The total calories of these foods are 2792 calories


These are some examples for Taiwanese traditional breakfast. There are still a lot of foods you can choose. Taiwanese is very creative, they will mix something and eat. That's the reason I choose to talk about Taiwan's breakfast.



Japanese traditional breakfast

 Breakfast in Japan comes in two major variations ; Japanese style and Western style . Nowadays , younger prefer to have Western style breakfast , because it is more convenient and less time consuming than Japanese style .

These are all necessary , what is the raw egg used for ? The raw egg is mixed with rice to make golden colored , this is called tamago kake gohan .

Western style breakfast is similar to US. Children often eat cornflakes with milk , hot chocolate or fruit juice . Adults prefer to eat toast with butter or jam , egg and some vegetables , and they like to drink coffee and orange juice .

If you want to have traditional Japanese breakfast you can go to Japanese inn , they will serve very complete traditional breakfast for you , and the western style hotels or restaurants they will offer mix of Western and Japanese style , they are both different with Taiwanese Breakfast . 



American Traditional Breakfast

Breakfast is the first meal that we have in the morning , and we get our energy for the day from it. American breakfast includes most or all of the following: two eggs (fried/poached/scrambled), sliced bacon or sausages, sliced bread or toast with jam/jelly/butter, pancakes with syrup, cornflakes or other cereal, coffee/tea, orange/grapefruit juice.

British Traditional Breakfast

Generally speaking the British breakfast is much bigger than in most other countries, especially for Japanese and Taiwanese.

Many people like to have a fried breakfast which can consist of fried bacon, fried eggs, fried bread, fried tomatoes, fried mushroom and fried sussage.


Of course not everybody wants to eat a lot or fried foods in the early morning. Thus, many people prefer to just eat toast and marmalade with tea or coffee. By the way, when they eat the toast, often spread with orange marmalade

Black Pudding is very traditional breakfast in the UK. Besides, it has been made and served across the UK and Europe for centuries.

Cereals are also very popular. Besides, it’s very common to see the British eat the cornflakes with the milk in the morning.They are made with different grains such as corn, wheat, oats.
